Jan 16 – Second Sunday after Epiphany

The Divine Service for the Second Sunday after Epiphany – January 16, 2022

“Follow the Signs to Jesus” – John 2:1-11

If you have ever done a road-trip, you know you need a good map or guide or GPS to lead the way. But you still have to understand the signs to take the right roads and turns to get to your destination. St. John uses “signs”, which are Jesus’ miracles, to show us the right way to know and understand Jesus as our Lord and Savior. At the wedding at Cana, Jesus saves the best (wine) for last. That is also our hope as a Christian – to follow the signs Jesus lays out for us in His Word so that we get to heaven, where the best is yet to come!

Jan 9 – The Baptism of Our Lord

The Divine Service for the Baptism of Our Lord (January 9, 2022)

“An Open Heaven for You” – Luke 3:15-22

The season of Epiphany begins on January 6 when the Church observes the coming of the Magi to worship baby Jesus. This service will incorporate that event along with the main focus on the Baptism of Jesus. Jesus is the gift of the Father to fallen humanity that we would worship Him who is not only our King, but our substitute. In baptismal water, Jesus has no sin to remove, but He is anointed to be our sin-bearer. Just as Jesus saw heaven open, so it is in our baptism that heaven is opened to those who now bear the name of Jesus. May we never lose our faith in the one with whom the Father is well pleased!

February 14 – The Transfiguration of Our Lord

The service for the Transfiguration of Our Lord (February 14, 2021). As the congregation resumes the worship of our glorious God in the church, we join in Peter’s words, “Lord, it is good for us to be here.” As much as our eyes delight in the beauty of creation or imagining the glorious sight that Peter, James, and John saw that day, we would do well to stay grounded in the Father’s words, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” Listening to Jesus, we are prepared for our departure from this world of sin to the glory of heaven, just as Jesus has done.

Note: As of this Sunday, the prerecorded service to be posted by Sunday morning will be eliminated. We know many of you have made this service part of your Sunday morning routine, and we apologize for the inconvenience and pray that the service is still a blessing to you. We do not have internet in the church so live-streaming is not an option at the moment, but we are looking into the project. We hope the service will be available to you by Sunday evening. You can subscribe to the YouTube channel and get notifications when the video is available. We pray that you will be blessed to participate in the service with the congregation even though there will be a delay.
